Greek Philosophy Series Recap

In December, Pomperaug Woods residents enjoyed a six-week Greek Philosophy Series of lectures by Professor Marjorie Miller, Ph.D.

The course explored the beginnings of the Western philosophical conversation, a conversation that continues through the present. According to Aristotle, philosophy begins in wonder. Aristotle also claimed that “all men desire to know.”

Lecture titles were:

• The origins of western philosophy in the Pre-Socratics
• Socrates and Plato
• Plato and Plato’s Socrates
• Aristotle’s natural philosophy and metaphysics
• Aristotle’s ethics and politics
• The Hellenistic philosophers
