We looked at a dozen communities, and chose Pomperaug Woods for its warm hospitality and pleasant atmosphere. What sets Pomperaug Woods apart from the rest is that it’s a very welcoming community with personable and friendly residents. Our new lifestyle has definitely enhanced our quality of life. We planned for our move to be a gift to our children – it turned out to be a gift to ourselves. ![]()

Years ago, I temporarily relocated to Southbury due to an unfortunate house fire and immediately fell in love with the area. I considered other communities, but chose independent retirement living at Pomperaug Woods for its location and overall charm but mostly because the vibes were right! It’s a lot smaller and more attractive plus everything is within five minutes – banks, stores, and great restaurants. And it’s nice residing with such diverse people with different life experiences. It’s like peeling back the layers of an onion – interesting to meet people with such talents. The staff is just incredible - so friendly and thoughtful. They are well chosen and trained! They were really generous with helping me get settled in! ![]()

The location of Pomperaug Woods is just great – it is in such a private and beautiful area, but so close to town. The convenience of getting to great shops, fabulous restaurants, town facilities and our doctors so quickly has been wonderful.

Pomperaug Woods called to me. As soon as I came here I felt at home. Everyone across the board is so upbeat, and there’s always something to do. The responsiveness and care of the staff are incredible. You just don’t need to worry about anything – and when that burden is lifted, the peace of mind you feel is really priceless. My family remarks that they have never seen me happier or more relaxed. ![]()

This is a delightful place – low, well-planned, architecturally attractive buildings, - lovely grounds and landscaping and gardens – not high rise, - not too large – a beautiful, country setting for independent retirement living. And Southbury is a nice community with all necessary facilities close by. I was also attracted to Pomperaug Woods because of its sound financial situation. My family and my friends from other retirement places all enthusiastically admire Pomperaug Woods. It is not institutional. It has a unique charm. ![]()
