From science, to education, to culture … residents of Pomperaug Woods retirement community  represent an amazing list of careers, interests and awards.  Yet, even with all of these credentials, you won’t find a more outgoing and welcoming group of neighbors.

In fact, when you visit Pomperaug Woods, you’ll likely meet residents like these:

  • Chie Chao—Professor Emeritus at Yale University where she was on the faculty for 40 years.  Currently travels extensively, including recent trips to China and Japan with plans to visit Peru this fall.
  • Sherman London—Member of the Connecticut Journalism Hall of fame, recognizing his career as a political/legislative reporter and newspaper editor.  Currently editor of the Pomperaug Woods newsletter, Words from the Woods.
  • Mary Millet—Moved to Pomperaug Woods in 1993, and planted two community gardens. Still maintains those beautiful gardens, including countless zinnias that she starts from seeds each spring in her apartment.

Just imagine the fun and interesting conversations over dinner!  Speaking of which, don’t be surprised if you have a knock at your door and an invitation to dinner the very first day at Pomperaug Woods.  It’s just that easy to get acquainted.

It’s equally easy to get involved … joining neighbors for cultural events, fitness activities and the very popular outings to events in the area.
